"Authorised in 1942 for the Royal Marine and Army Commandos, the beret adopted the distinctive green of the light infantry. After having successfully passed out of the commando school training course at Achnacarry (Scotland) the volunteers of the 1st Battalion de Fusillers-Marines Commando were authorised to wear the beret starting on 14 March 1943".
